For 15 years, Armonico Consort has been in demand by festivals in the UK and Europe to perform its inimitable version of Purcell’s Dido & Aeneas. The singers and actors of the company now turn their attention to Purcell’s greatest semi opera in a brand new semi staged version with a specially adapted script from Shakespeare’s ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’ create for the first time a modern day retelling of both of these incredible works in one joyous evening! Armonico Consort will conjure up Purcell’s world of dreams and darkness, love and laughter in a not to be missed evening!

The Fairy Queen is an adaption of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Can there be anything dreamier then to picnic in the gardens of Aldborough Manor from 5pm on a beautiful midsummer evening, before a magical night of music?

Armonico Consort is the spine-tingling, critically acclaimed choir, that sells out venues thanks to their inventive way of presenting a performance, under the artistic vision of director, Chirstopher Monks.

This semi-staged production of Purcell’s masterpiece, The Fairy Queen, is an extraordinary work with the most simply seductive melodies, described by Monks as an entertaining ‘emotional rollercoaster.’

“…the voices of the Armonico Consort were beautifully blended, with crisp diction and slow-release suspensions as standard. Their chorales were pure pleasure…”
